It’s a good thing Morris thinks cactus’s are “pretty cool” because his bedroom may have a few of them in it. The room is designed around this amazing rug from Lorena Canals. I added a few pieces from a couple of local artists who I adore (a print and a pillow from Paula Lukey and prints and play-tent from Whimsy & Kind), some simple IKEA furniture and repainted an old bookshelf and dresser that I already had.
I was a bit nervous ordering a rug online, I never have before and was afraid I wouldn’t like it. Thankfully I had nothing to worry about. The rug is gorgeous and soft and best of all MACHINE WASHABLE! This could not be more perfect for a rug in the bedroom of a “3 and 3/4 year old”. Lorena Canal rugs are handmade with natural dyes and contain no VOCs (like most other carpeting and rugs). A portion of their proceeds support the Sakula project, which provides schooling for children in India.
Whimsy & Kind:
I met owner Emily at an Etsy/Artisan Show last year and was immediately drawn to the fun prints and super cute play-tents that she had for sale. She is coming up on her one year shop anniversary this coming May! Emily is Mama to a little girl and boy who are her inspiration and also her play-tent testers :). If you’re looking for prints for a nursery or children’s room check her out! I bought a few prints for Rose’s room as well. A play-tent makes a GREAT gift (just ask my niece/nephew). WHIMSY & KIND
I came across Paula’s shop on Instagram last year and basically wanted to order everything! Paula is a Graphic Designer and Textile Screen Printer and has created a beautiful/fun line of decor and lifestyle goods. Also, everything is made here in Toronto! PAULA LUKEY
Next up! Rose’s nursery.
