Morris is out of daycare and home with me full time for the summer. I’ve realized that since we’ve added Rose to our little crew it is not nearly as easy as it used to be to get out of the house in a timely manner. I love a lazy day at home every once in a while, but most days we are out and about. Here’s how I manage to get out the door quickly with kids.
Type A Level Organization get out the door quickly with kids
In most ways I don’t consider myself a “Type A” personality (my husband may disagree). However, when it comes to the kids I try to be as organized as possible. Now that Rose has a slightly more consistent nap schedule I use her morning nap time to get everything we need for the day ready and packed. Then we she wakes up we’re good to go. get out the door quickly with kids
Checklist get out the door quickly with kids
My diaper bag always has: diapers/wipes, extra clothes, snacks (for both), a water bottle, sunscreen, and sun-hats. If we’re headed to the splash pad bathing suits, towels and a couple toys are added to the bag. I always double and triple check my Park Essentials Checklist and then we’re out the door.

Diaper Bag Backpack*
Why oh why did I ever own a diaper bag that wasn’t a backpack? When Morris was a baby I always had a sore back and shoulders much of which I attribute to my previous diaper bag (and from not putting Morris in a carrier often enough). Since discovering this BEAUTIFUL Elwood Backpack by TIBA + MARL from Poppy’s Collection I would never go back to using my over the shoulder bag again. I highly recommend that every parent (not just those with babies or multiple kids) invest in one. This one in particular has many features that I love: get out the door quickly with kids
- multiple zipper openings for organization,
- a front pocket with a cooler pouch for a bottle
- a back sleeve with a change pad
- a removable clutch
- WAY more space then a conventional diaper bag
